Goshen Orchestra Centennial Concert
On Sunday May 22nd at 3:00 p.m. the Goshen Orchestras will be formally celebrating our centennial year of the Goshen Community Schools Orchestra Program in the Goshen High School Gymnasium. This concert is free and open to the public, as we want the entire community to come out and celebrate with us.
All Orchestras will be in performance, as we honor our long tradition of excellence. We plan to recognize past directors, feature a commissioned work, Awaken with the Sun by Michael Hopkins, which was inspired by the history and tradition of the Goshen Community, and end the concert with a mass orchestra finale of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
We will have all the Goshen Orchestras, grades 5-12, performing this short arrangement of Ode to Joy while we welcome and invite all Goshen Orchestra alumni young and old to bring their string instruments and join in on the performance. We will have music on site or you can access the links on the orchestra site for resources related to the arrangement. All we ask is that former orchestra members wishing to perform check their tuning and play-ability of their instruments before the event. For those interested, we will be holding an open combined orchestra rehearsal on Monday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the Goshen High School Orchestra room (GHS Rm. 5100) for anyone wishing to rehearse the piece before the event.
Come join with over 450 current Goshen Orchestra members as we bring this centennial year to a close together with music!
