6th Grade Cheerleading Information
This is for any 6th grade girl interested in learning about Goshen Middle School cheerleading. 6th grade cheerleaders cheer at 6th grade boy’s basketball games. This will include cheers, chants, jumps and basic cheer concepts. This is a great opportunity to get some experience before trying out for 7th grade cheerleading in the spring of 2015. Space is limited, so sign up quickly.
Concussion Information/Form
The student athlete and parent must complete the Concussion/Cardiac Signature Form (purple form) and return to the Athletic Office prior to Thursday, October 15. This form must be completed to be eligible to participate in 6th grade cheerleading
Fees
See attached page. Your completed cheer shirt order form and money ($6.50) are due October 15th. . Return your money and complete form to Mrs. Egli in the Athletic Office. Make checks payable to GMS Athletics.
Practice/Games
Cheerleaders must attend practice each week in order to cheer at the game on Saturday. Practices will be held on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:45pm. No jewelry may be worn during practice or games. Shoes must have shoelaces and be tied at all times during practice and games. Games are played at Goshen Middle School on Saturday mornings at 8:00, 9:00 or 10:00am.
Please have rides here at the conclusion of practice and games. If you are not here to pick up your daughter by 5:45pm on a practice day, they will ride the late bus home which departs GMS at 6:05pm from exit “W”. Your daughter will be given two warnings for late pickup. The third late pickup will result in your daughter being released from the team. Practices are closed to spectators. Siblings and friends of cheerleaders should not stay after school to watch practice. Games are approximately one hour in length. Cheerleaders are expected to arrive for their game 15 minutes before game time, dressed and ready to cheer.
First Practice
Wednesday, October 28, 4:00-5:45pm. You will meet with your Coach outside the Athletic Office. You will receive a season schedule at your first practice.
Behavior Concerns
Any student assigned ISS or OSS, participation in extra-curricular activity rules will be followed, in addition, any student assigned to Friday School or isolation, or suspended in or out of school will automatically be ineligible for participation in their next athletic contest. Students who are assigned ISS or OSS are not permitted to attend any athletic activity, including practice on the date(s) of the ISS or OSS.
Positive Behavior Support
GMS has implemented the Positive Behavior Support philosophy to ensure that the climate is supportive of students and adults. Our practices are based on five traits: Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Productivity and Integrity. All individuals are expected to demonstrate healthy behavior. (Example: profanity from students, coaches and adults is prohibited)
Game Admission
Admission Charge – There is an admission charge for games for spectators.
Students – $2.00
Adults – $3.00
Senior Citizens- $2.00

- Tennis Shoes (your own with laces that tie)

- Black shorts (must be approved by coach before 1st game)
- No Show white socks (your own)
Total Cost: $6:50 (Make checks payable to GMS Athletics)
