6th Grade Boys Basketball
1 – Skills Evaluation – Tuesday, October 16, we will be having a skill evaluation so that we can make teams as competitive as possible. All players should be ready to compete in the lower gym at 6:30pm. We will be finished by 7:30pm. If your athlete is unable to attend, please contact Von Oxenrider at voxenrider@goshenschools.org.
2 – All teams will practice Thursday, October 18 from 6:30-7:30pm in the lower gym. Practice and game schedules will be distributed at this first practice. There are one/two practices per week and games are played on Saturday mornings. Parents are responsible to transport players to games and practices. Players should arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to practice and must always be picked up no later then 10 minutes after the conclusion of practices.
3 – The program concludes on December 1st.
4 – This is considered an intramural program. However, each team has a coach and games are regulation in length with certified referees.
5 – There is no cost to the student and an athletic physical is not required. The student athlete and parent must complete the Concussion Signature Form (purple form) and return to the Athletic Office prior to October 16 to be eligible to participate in 6th grade boys basketball program.
6 – Admission Charge – There is an admission charge for the games – $2.00 Students/Senior Citizens, $3.00 Adults.
7 – Practice/game schedule – All practices are one hour to one one-half hours in length and students must be in school in order to attend practice. Please have rides here at the conclusion of practice. Your son will be given two warnings for late pickup. The third late pickup will result in your child being released from the team. Also, parents, siblings of players, and friends of players will not be able to attend practice. Games will be approximately one hour in length and players are expected to arrive 10 minutes before game time.
* First Games – October 20th will be the first game day. If teams seem out of balance there is the possibility of player trades. This will be determined by coaches.
